A Pretty awesome start to my 28th year!

I welcomed my birthday two weeks ago with a bunch of hesitation.  Most years, I turn my birthday into a month long extravaganza and this year I was worried about it.  I'm not so sure why...but I felt bad having everyone celebrate me.  But I did...and it's been awesome!!!
Around January I had decided that since I've been on a health kick as of late, instead of spending my birthday drinking my life away, I wanted to bike it away.  So, I signed 18 of my closest friends (and my Dad!) up for the NYC 5 boro Bike Tour.  12 of us ended up doing it and it was AMAZING!!!! My dad looked for every excuse possible to get out of it, including needing 2 knee replacements that he's putting off, and getting a physical to make sure he was healthy enough (HE WAS!).  It was a VERY fun day...
It took A LOT of planning on my part with a bunch of people driving up from Baltimore, Arlington and down from Vermont and a bunch of NY-ers that had to all meet in one place.  A bunch of bikes and people to coordinate meant that I got stuck in the truck for a bit the night before...

Once the bike tour started, it was amazing... there were SOOOO many people!!! We ended up pairing off because there was NO way all 12 of us were going to stay together.  We're already planning next years Bike tour-Dad's planning how we're starting so we don't get mixed up in the 32,000 people again, and the girls and I are planning on how we will stand out so we can all stay together!!

Now that I have proved to myself that I can run a 5k without stopping and I can bike 40 miles without getting off the bike for any of the hills/bridges with only minor muscle cramping...it is time to step it up!!!  My goal is start actually eating more healthy so that it will help my training and make whatever other races and bike tours I end up doing this summer that much more worth it... :)  I am very excited for my 28th year...as a good friend said...I kicked ass in my 27th year so who only knows what I'm going to do with my 28th!!!!!!!! And it's off to a damn good start!!!
